It serves as the barrier between the shower floor and the bathroom floor, preventing water from spilling out while also providing a sturdy base for mounting shower doors or enclosures.

Choosing the Right Materials

• For Concrete Subfloors: If your shower is built on a concrete slab that has already been pre-sloped for drainage, cinder blocks and mortar offer a strong and reliable foundation for the curb.
• For Wood Subfloors: When constructing a shower curb on a wooden subfloor, pressure-treated lumber is typically used to form the structure. Standard practice involves stacking and securing multiple layers of 2"x4" boards using screws or nails, creating a solid and stable base for waterproofing and tile installation.

Shower curbs can be built in various sizes depending on the design and function of your shower. No matter the material, ensuring a watertight seal is crucial for long-term durability and preventing leaks.
